Station History

WPDC has been part of the Elizabethtown community for more than six decades. The station first signed on the air on May 23, 1958, originally under the call sign WEZN. Over the years, it went through several name changes—becoming WHRY in 1964 and WEPN in 1969—before finally adopting the familiar WPDC identity in 1971.

From its earliest broadcasts, WPDC has been dedicated to serving central Pennsylvania with music, news, and local programming. Today, branded as Sweet 16 WPDC, the station is known for its oldies format, featuring the greatest hits of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.

WPDC operates on 1600 AM and simulcasts on 102.1 FM, ensuring listeners across the Harrisburg, York, and Lancaster regions can enjoy its programming. With 1,000 watts of daytime power and 7 watts at night, the station has long been a reliable companion for drivers, families, and music lovers throughout the area.

The station’s studios and offices are located on Dairy Lane in Elizabethtown, keeping WPDC firmly rooted in the community it serves. Ownership has changed hands over the years, but the mission has remained the same: to provide listeners with timeless music and a local voice that connects generations.
